TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENT TO HONOR MICHIGAN ATTORNEYS AND NONPROFITS WORKING TOGETHER

Community Legal Resources (CLR) 10th Anniversary and Volunteer Recognition Event will celebrate the generous efforts of hundreds attorneys who tirelessly donate thousands of volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations across the state.  Last year volunteer lawyers for Community Legal Resources logged over 3,000 hours.  Services provided over the past 10 years are valued at $7.2 million in direct benefit to Michigan’s low-income communities and the nonprofits that serve them.

As CLR celebrates its 10th anniversary, it will re-honor individual attorneys, law firms and other partners for their outstanding contribution to the program’s success over the years.  The event will also celebrate CLR’s growing programs, staff and impact on low-income communities.

Law firms and partners that have contributed to CLR’s success and will be re-honored are Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker; Bodman; Butzel Long; Clark Hill; Dickinson Wright; Dykema Gossett; GM Legal Staff; Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohn; Howard & Howard; Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss; and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

Individual volunteers that will be re-honored at the event for their outstanding pro bono commitment are: Thomas Nowinski of Clark Hill; Louis P. Rochkind of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss; Cameron Evans of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohn; Paul Green formerly of Howard & Howard; Catherine LaMont of LaMont Title Corporation; Randolph Perry of Bodman (Retired); Rebecca Simkins of Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker; and Chris Ballard of Bodman.

The event will be held Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Guardian Building in downtown Detroit.  The Guardian Building is one of Detroit’s architectural stars and is a fitting backdrop for recognizing the outstanding volunteers that give their time and efforts to serve nonprofits working in low income communities.  It also showcases the success of Community Legal Resources over the last few years, as the celebration will overlook CLR’s new home office across the street in the Ford Building (615 Griswold, Suite 1400, Detroit, MI 48226).

Community Legal Resources would like to thank General Motors, Michigan State Housing Development Authority, Detroit LISC and Comerica for sponsoring the recognition event.
